Adultshop.com Bunbury was awarded the most Accessible Bunbury Business Award on Sunday for its commitment to accessibility for people with disabilities.

The business was commended for making its Arthur Street store accessible for people of all abilities as well as promoting access and inclusion throughout the business community.

Manager Natasha Farmer said it was an honour to win the award.

“It’s great to see the community getting behind an initiative like this, ” she said.

The store has wheelchair access, wide aisles to allow for wheelchairs and prams, bright labelling and signage asking customers to inform staff if they need assistance.

“Our staff is also trained in working with people with special needs, ” Ms Farmer said.

“We treat them like an individual instead of talking to their carer, for example.”

Ms Farmer encouraged other Adultshop.com stores to take up initiatives like the City of Bunbury’s Accessible Bunbury Business Initiative.

The awards were presented by the City of Bunbury at its Australia Day Awards Ceremony.
