Great Northern Super Crisp revealed as Australia’s favourite beer for five years in a row

Australians can’t get enough of a popular mid-strength beer, crowning it the best brew in the nation for a fifth straight year.
Great Northern Super Crisp has once again come out on top in terms of beer sales, according to market research company Circana.
The beverage was started to rival Corona and 30-can packs of the brew are the top selling beer option in the country for 2025.

Following behind Great Northern are Carlton Dry, XXXX Gold, Coopers Pale Ale and VB.
Circana combined data with Dan Murphy’s and brewers Asahi and Lion to reveal the most favoured beers in the nation.
Super Crisp has topped beer sales in Australia since 2020 according to independent beer expert Matt Kirkegaard.
“It has been an unbridled success story since it was launched to go head-to-head with Corona,” he told The Courier Mail.
“Great Northern is a clear bottled, easy drinking beer and it turned the blokey idea of beer on its head.

“The marketing is gender neutral and it fits into that easy drinking lifestyle beer.”
In terms of tap beer, Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale is now Lion’s number one distributed brew.
The beer has proved a worth investment after the brewer purchased it for $500 million in 2021.
Australia’s favourite beers:
- Great Northern Super Crisp
- Carlton Dry
- XXXX Gold
- Coopers Pale Ale
- VB
- Hanh SuperDry
- Corona Extra
- Carlton Draught
- Tooheys
- Asahi
With the variety that’s now on the market, beers with a lower alcohol percentage are now becoming more popular.
“Mid-strength has surpassed full-strength beer to claim the number 1 subcategory in terms of overall volume year-to-date,” head of beer and cider at Endeavor Group Gill Webb said.
