2024 Toyota Yaris price and specs

The Toyota Yaris range has gone hybrid-only for 2024, with the base price climbing by almost $4000.

While it has lost its three petrol-powered variants (let’s count the GR Yaris, which lives on, as a separate vehicle), it has gained a new entry-level Ascent Sport hybrid.

The carryover SX and ZR hybrids see price increases of up to $1770.

However, Toyota has made various enhancements to the Yaris’ specification for 2024.

Inside, the 7.0-inch touchscreen has been swapped for a larger 8.0-inch unit running Toyota’s latest-generation infotainment system.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is now wireless, and there’s cloud-based satellite navigation.

Toyota has also ditched USB-A outlets for a pair of USB-C outlets up front.

The SX and ZR gain a full 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster with nine patterns and three themes.

All models feature the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

The autonomous emergency braking system, for example, now recognises motorcycles and oncoming vehicles, and features daylight intersection collision avoidance and emergency steering assist.

Toyota says the Yaris’ cameras and sensors now operate over a wider area, which has resulted in enhancements to the adaptive cruise control and lane trace assist systems.

The SX and above gain parking support brake, which applies the brakes if it detects you’re about to hit an obstacle while parking, while the flagship ZR now has safe exit assist to stop occupants from stepping out into incoming traffic.

Cosmetic changes are minor. There’s a new grille outside, new upholstery designs inside, and a revised colour palette.

Drivetrains

All 2024 Toyota Yaris models feature a 1.5-litre three-cylinder hybrid powertrain producing 67kW of power and 120Nm of torque, mated with a 59kW/141Nm electric motor, a small lithium-ion battery, and a continuously variable transmission.

Total system output is 85kW.

The claimed 0-100km/h time is 10.2 seconds.

Efficiency

The 2024 Toyota Yaris uses 3.3L/100km on the combined cycle.

It runs on 91 RON regular unleaded fuel and has a 36L fuel tank. It emits 76 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

The Yaris meets Euro 5 emissions standards.

Dimensions

The 2024 Toyota Yaris measures 3950mm long, 1695mm wide and 1495mm tall, on a 2550mm wheelbase.

It weighs between 1085kg and 1130kg.

Servicing and Warranty

Toyota backs the Yaris with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

It offers capped-price servicing for the first five years or 75,000km, whichever comes first.

Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, with each visit capped at $245.

Safety

The Toyota Yaris has a five-star rating from ANCAP, based on testing conducted in 2020.

It received an adult occupant protection score of 86 per cent, a child occupant protection score of 87 per cent, a vulnerable road user protection score of 78 per cent, and a safety assist score of 87 per cent.
