This Mediterranean-inspired Mosman Park custom build by Aspire Homes & Renovations conjures up a delightful vision of being whisked away to a holiday villa.

And that’s exactly what the owners wanted to execute, having been inspired by their holiday villa in Spain.

Inspired by their holiday villa in Spain, the homeowners decided to bring it home with them – inspiring this Mediterranean build.

This refreshing creation boasts an abundance of clean lines, a bright and airy feel, and extensive outdoor living.

“We wanted a clean, ageless scheme, so we used the Mediterranean colours of off-white for the exterior render, a white interior with timber floors and doors, while other timber and accent tiling were used for the highlights,” they said.

The entry of the home makes a grand statement, achieved through the inclusion of glazed double-entry doors, as well as a large foyer with a clear glazed wrought iron balustrade flanking a timber and tile staircase.

“It creates space without losing the warmth,” the owners said.

In addition to allowing for a holiday lifestyle every day, one of the main functions the clients wanted the home to provide them with was the ability to age in place.

“The ground floor is capable of being easily adapted to accommodate live-in help when the time comes, yet still large enough to accommodate our visitors,” they said.

“As we are ageing, we wanted the home to provide a high standard of finish with flexibility – capable to be lived in for the rest of our lives.

“This was achieved with larger doors, flush floors throughout, and the ability for the first floor to be used as an independent living unit with its own lift and terraces.”

The location of the home had a part to play in its design.

The owners said, as the block orientated south to north, facing the Swan River, it was essential to capture the views of the river but still flood the lounge and entertaining areas with sun from the north.

“The kitchen and main living area is on the first floor to maximise the views of the Swan River,” they said.

Directly flowing out from the home’s open-plan area, the alfresco is made to entertain on warm summer nights.

“The home faces south but a large terrace was integrated between the lounge and master bedroom to the east and the north-facing study. The terrace receives summer and winter sun, and it is possible to sit on the terrace and still view the river through bi-fold doors and the lounge’s south-facing sliding doors.”

The main open-plan area of the home offers ample space for dinner parties, with this large zone flowing directly out onto the outdoor areas.

The kitchen is sleek and modern, with plentiful storage options and colourful tiles really driving that Mediterranean inspiration home once again.

Bold lighting pendants in the large open-plan zone make for a unique and elegant statement, with three different types being suspended above the kitchen, dining and living, establishing a subtle separation between each.
