Children walking on roadside ‘felt threatened’ by passing motorist; police ask for more information

Police are investigating reports of an encounter on an Albany street that left a group of children feeling threatened by a passing motorist.

Great Southern Police on Tuesday called for information about a reported incident in McKail between 4pm and 5pm on Monday.

“The occupants of a light blue or grey sedan drove past three children who were walking along Drome Road,” police said. “A man in the passenger seat had one arm out the window and let out a loud yell as the vehicle passed the children. The vehicle did not stop. The children felt threatened and reported the incident.”

Police said the man was fair skinned with shaved head and long, reddish-brown beard.

The police statement came after an Albany woman posted to Facebook on Monday, warning that a man had tried to abduct her daughter.

Details in the woman’s posts matched police posts, but she said the man tried to pull her daughter into the car.
