AFL greats John Worsfold and Glen Jakovich brought their star power to Albany at the weekend to help raise about $30,000 for Albany Community Hospice.

The West Coast Eagles premiership players joined fans for the 10th Albany Community Hospice Footy Stars Weekend, which has raised more than $250,000 for the facility over the years.

The players mingled with fans, sharing insights from their careers at a gala dinner, memorabilia auction and golf day.

Jakovich has supported the fundraiser every year for a decade. After visiting the hospice on Saturday, he said he was blown away by how far it had come.

Premiership coach and dual premiership player Worsfold took part in the event for the first time this year.

He recently returned to Perth after a five-season coaching stint at Essendon.

He said he was proud to support the hospice.

“It takes a lot of volunteers, a lot of hard work and passion,” he said. “I had a look at the hospice on Saturday and it was very impressive to see what everyone was achieving.”

Organiser Todd McGregor said it was excellent to have “Woosha” on board this year.

“He was really well received and was really interesting and insightful,” he said.

“We got a lot of good inside information about his time at the Eagles and his time at Essendon. He had the audience captivated.

“The weather was brilliant, the course was beautiful, and it was full of people who were happy to put their hands in their pockets and donate to the hospice.”
