From melodies to rock anthems, beloved Australian bands entertain fans at Castelli Estate on Saturday night

Vineyards, voices and vintage Australian hits came together on Saturday night as the Castelli Estate became one of the Great Southern’s liveliest concert venues, delivering a feel-good evening. Set among the rolling vineyards near Denmark, the open-air concert attracted a strong crowd keen to see beloved Australian bands Little Birdy, Birds of Tokyo and Jet take to the stage. From families to groups of friends and excited fans, the crowd reflected the broad appeal of a concert built on nostalgia, energy and great music. Picnic rugs and camping chairs filled the Castelli Estate with concertgoers settling in with food trucks treats, drinks, and glasses of Castelli wine in hand. The atmosphere was relaxed but buzzing with excitement, laughter and chatter as everyone geared up for a night of singing and dancing. Little Birdy opened the night with a set that eased the crowd into the evening. The Australian indie rock band made their sound known as it echoed throughout the vineyard, bringing fans to the front of the stage for a dance and a singalong. As more people flooded through the gates the lawns filled up and energy levels rose as much-loved Perth-based band Birds of Tokyo took to the stage. The Australian alternative rock favourites wasted no time pulling the crowd to their feet, with fans packing near the front of the stage and singing along from the first notes. The band’s set list featured some of their greatest hits and fan favourites such as Plans, Good Lord, I’d Go With You Anywhere, and Unbreakable. As the sun started to dip low across the vineyard, it was time for Birds of Tokyo to leave the stage with crowd favourite Lanterns. Thousands of voices joined in, arms in the air creating a shared, wholesome experience as everyone sang and danced to their last song together as one. As daylight faded, the atmosphere changed and the crowd were ready for some hardcore rock‘n’roll. Jet delivered exactly what the crowd had been waiting for, turning the estate into a massive dance floor. From the first guitar riff, the energy surged with people on their feet across the lawn dancing, jumping and soaking up every minute of this beloved Australian band. Are You Gonna Be My Girl proved a winning song, sending the crowd into an excited craze. Lead singer Nic Cester took things up a notch, jumping on to boxes in front of the stage to get closer to fans, and ramped up his stage presence and crowd interaction. The band fed off the crowd’s energy, hyping up their performance and keeping the songs upbeat and fun until the end. As the last notes were played, cheers and the shouts of “encore” from the crowd could be heard echoing across the vineyard. The Castelli Concert once again delivered a night of quality live music that left people wanting more.
