Local duo Hope Batchelor and Bryce Fisher shine at WA Junior Sedan Titles

Albany’s Hope Batchelor and Amelup’s Bryce Fisher have impressed at the WA Junior Sedan Title in Karratha.

Batchelor received the Ian Beard Best Presented Car award at Nickol Bay Speedway Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Both drivers impressed on the track in the 25-lap feature event finishing inside the top eight.

Batchelor is an Albany member while Fisher is a member of both Albany and Mt Barker.

Fisher started the feature from position eight while Batchelor qualified well back in the field of 22 in the A-main final, starting from 16th.

By the end of the race, Fisher had moved up one spot into seventh while Batchelor produced a superb run to finished hot on his heels in eighth in the State title.

Beau Oldfield was in the lead for much of the race, with Jhy Pack, Seth Hinsey, Matthew Thomson, Brandon Buszan and Palmer in the top six with four laps remaining, in a race befitting the occasion.

With one lap remaining, Buszan passed Thomson, while Hinsey went on the inside of Pack and Oldfield to take the lead and cross the line first.

However, Hinsey was immediately relegated two spots for the pass, handing the win to Pack,who crossed the line 0.056 seconds ahead of Oldfield to take the State title, with Hinsey back in third while Thomson and Buszan rounded out the top five.

Pack emerged victorious despite never having the lead.

After the race, Hinsey was disqualified, meaning Thomson moved up into third and Buszan to fourth.

Batchelor finished fourth in her three heats on the opening night before coming third in her only heat on the second night.

Fisher won one of his heat races and placed third in another, finishing seventh and eighth in his other two heats.
