Great Southern traffic police are asking for help investigating a dramatic crash in Centennial Park last week, when pieces of a car were strewn across Albany Highway and two people were hospitalised.
Just after 4pm on Thursday, a red Holden Commodore was travelling along Albany Highway into the city centre when it crashed into a tree on the median strip near Lion Street.
The two occupants of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, and a teenage boy, were trapped in the vehicle.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services firefighting crews managed to free the pair by 4.30pm, before St John WA transported them to Albany Health Campus under normal road speed, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Both lanes on Albany Highway heading south into Albany were closed, and northbound traffic was reduced to a single lane while emergency service crews made the area safe.
Great Southern traffic officer-in-charge Sgt Derek Grimes said the investigation into the incident would likely take some time.
“It is an ongoing investigation and we’re urging any members of the public with information or CCTV to come forward and let us know what they saw, whether its the moments before the crash leading up to it or the incident itself,” he said.
“We are looking at several factors in relation to this crash.”

Several witnesses on the scene reported the car travelling at high speeds before the crash, and weaving in and out of traffic.
Anyone who saw the vehicle driving before the crash, or who has any information or footage regarding the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers online via crimestopperswa.com.au or by calling 1800 333 000.
Dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage can be sent directly to investigators via tinyurl.com/2dpqcyjj.
