Road safety is set to be boosted in Denmark with the Federal Government announcing more than $37,000 of funding to fix a section of Ocean Beach Road.

A total of $37,375 will be used to reconfigure the intersection at Lights Road and Lights Road West, sealing the western approach, extending the culvert and installing signs. The Denmark road safety project secured funding in the latest round of the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program, announced last week.

WA has been allocated $14.74 million for 34 projects in the latest round.

“Road crashes place major emotional and economic strains on all affected communities but particularly the families and friends of the victims,” O’Connor MP Rick Wilson said.

Mr Wilson, chairman of the WA Black Spot Consultative Panel, urged the community to get involved in the program.

“Neither of these projects would be set to be delivered without the community’s vital input,” he said.

“I encourage all residents and motorists in the Great Southern to nominate projects for future funding rounds.”
