Young Great Southern trio represent region at WA Country Cricket Talent Series in Perth

Young Great Southern cricketers Dash Germinario, Oliver Douglas and Tess Badger travelled to Perth last week after being selected to play in the WA Country Cricket Talent Series.
The trio were the only representatives of the region, selected by WACC to play on combined teams of regional players in men’s under-18 and women’s under-18 and under-15 age categories.
Germinario and Douglas were both selected for the under-18 men’s series on April 8 and 9, but played on opposing sides.
Douglas was his team’s top run scorer in the final round, and finished up fourth on the overall run scorers list with 56 runs.
Germinario managed 62 across his three games, finishing just ahead of Douglas on the run scorers in third place.

Tess Badger was one of 24 players selected for the under-15 female age group and finished second on the wicket takers list from her two matches behind West Pilbara player Emily Killen, claiming a wicket in each game and a catch in the field in the final round.
Tess said it was a “pretty special feeling” to represent Albany in a women’s competition and be recognised among the top bowlers for her age group, especially as she plays in a mixed competition in Albany in the absence of a competitive women’s competition.
“I think I went well personally, but it wouldn’t have happened without such a great team and the support of our coaches, especially having female coaches there on the day,” she said.
“I worked really hard with my coach leading into the tournament, so I’m really appreciative of the time and effort he put in to working with me, even when I was playing he was checking in from home.
“Considering I didn’t have the best season overall stats wise, it felt really rewarding to finish second on the wicket takers list and see that all the hard work had paid off.”
Tess has been playing WA Premier Cricket in Perth, which she is hoping to continue next season, and said she was looking forward to playing at country week with Albany’s Scorpions women’s team again.
