Heart lights up

Augusta Margaret River Times

Margaret River’s cultural centre will glow yellow this month “as a beacon of hope, positivity and connection” during the pandemic, according to the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.

The move to light up the Heart venue follows similar displays by other South West local governments to maintain community spirit.

Shire president Ian Earl said the illumination served as a reminder for residents to practise self-care, and “be kind, tolerant, generous and supportive towards others”.

“Times of stress and hardship can tend to either divide or unite communities,” he said. “We are asking people to choose togetherness and act with concern and empathy.”

“We are all experiencing a great deal of change and many of us feel anxious, fearful and uncertain for our own wellbeing and that of our loved ones.”
