South West’s top flight netballers heading for State Cup

The next generation of the South West’s finest netballers are set to take centre stage in Perth.

Netball WA South West recently announced the teams that will represent the region in the upcoming State Cup at Gold Netball Centre from October 8 to 10.

Following a two-day hub stacked with training sessions and try-outs earlier in the year, players from across the region were selected to represent in three age groups — 18 & under, 16 & under and 14 & under.

Bunbury was the most represented within the South West teams with nine players across the three teams, followed closely by Leschenault and Bridgetown.

Busselton’s four players all made the 14 & under team, Eaton had representatives in the 18 & under and 14 & under teams, Manjimup had two players while Collie had one representative in the 16 & under team.

Players representing the South West in the 18 & under age group include Isabelle Billett, Ebony Brugge, Grace Craigie, Ella Dowsett, Paige Giudici, Abbey Hall, Imogen Hunt, Kimberley Johnson, Alexandra Keech, Hilary Ladhams and Shanti Riches.

Kwanyke Bishop, Tanika Dunlop, Jemma Farmer, Milla Harker, Rosie Hughes, Abbey Jones, Rachel & Tessa Kilchenmann, Molly Miller, Abbey Pitts and Chloe Rogers will make up the South West’s 16 & under team.

The squad named for the 14 & under team included Annika Brearley, Lani Cahill, Holly-Jo Delaney, Sydney Emmott, Greta Hall, Lily Knight, Neve McDonald, Grace Millichamp, Parae Pitman, Ella Soulos, Tess Taylor and Mikayla Williams.

A small team of umpires will be joining the three teams on the journey to Perth including Bunbury’s Tanika Dunlop and Dana Gibaut, Busselton’s Maizie Brown, Amber Guthridge and Ava Simpson, Bridgetown’s Matilda Miller and Margaret River’s Lulu Goodall.

The Netball WA State Cup is set to provide the opportunity for players, coaches and umpires across the state to compete against each other and acts as a selection point for them to progress to the next level of programs and pathways.

The inaugural State Cup took place in 2019, which saw the South West make grand final appearances in the 12 and under age divisions.
