Vocal Fusion Youth Choir fundraiser to help bring joy and connection to world

Bunbury’s community choir is fundraising for upcoming events in the South West and beyond in a bid to continue their work enriching the lives of their members and audiences alike. Vocal Fusion Youth Choir will hold a market day on August 10 at the South West Italian Club from 8am to noon; entry is a gold coin donation. About 20 families and friends of the VFYC have collaborated to hold the event and sale items will include plants, books, pet treats, clothes, cakes and homemade goods, choir merchandise, raffles, activity tables and a sausage sizzle. Tickets to their upcoming Magic of the Movies concert on August 31, which starts from 6pm at Bunbury Catholic College, will also be available to buy. All funds raised will go towards the Dunsborough Songfest 2024, where the choir will perform for three days, and the final leg of the Senior Ensemble Samoan Tour 2024. President Barbara Gore said singing in the choir wasn’t just about making music, it was a chance for self-expression, creativity and connection. “It builds confidence, teamwork skills and improves physical and social skills — that is why we believe everyone should have the chance to sing, whatever their voice quality,” she said. “We are proud and honoured to be a part of these young people’s lives and are so grateful for the support we have received so far.” Treasurer and event co-ordinator Belinda Evans said community support was paramount for the choir to continue their ongoing success and fundraisers were a key part of this. Recent milestones for the group include winning the City of Bunbury 2024 Community Group of the Year Award, being Eisteddfod winners this year, and creating and recording a music video for the Australian leg of the Commonwealth Resounds Music Relay.
