A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being trapped in her vehicle during a multiple-car crash on Bussell Highway.

Police say five cars were involved in a serious car crash on Bussell Highway outside Bunbury Hospital about 11am this morning.

A female driver believed to be in her 20s was trapped in the wreckage and had to be pulled from the car by emergency services.

The woman is currently receiving treatment for critical injuries, but police say her condition is not “life-threatening”.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The double carriageway heading north towards Bunbury has been blocked off from Washington Avenue to the roundabout at Robinson Drive, with motorists being directed to a detour.

Emergency crews are assisting the drivers and passengers involved, some being young children, as police investigate.
