Bullsbrook and Muchea bushfire: Blaze downgraded to watch and act, possible threat to lives and homes remains

People in parts of Bullsbrook and Muchea are being urged to stay alert as a bushfire burns close to homes.
An emergency bushfire warning has been downgraded for people travelling along Muchea South Road and Tonkin Highway, between the northern part of Almeria Parade and Morley Road in Bullsbrook and Muchea.
Emergency WA issued the watch and act update at 3.22pm, advising residents stay vigilant as conditions are changing.
“There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and conditions are changing,” the warning states.

The bushfire erupted near Outback Splash and is now stationary. It is not contained or controlled.
Tonkin Highway between Neaves Road and Granary Drive was reopened at 3.20pm after the fire forced it to close in both directions.
Main Roads confirmed traffic is still busy in the area.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to battle the blaze, and aerial support was sent to help ground crews.
Photographs captured by The West Australian show plumes of smoke wafting over a plain as a firefighting chopper flies overhead.
People in the area are being told to follow the safety advise below:
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could change.
- Keep your doors and windows closed to keep out smoke.
- Turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible to prevent embers entering your home.
- Continue to patrol your property and be ready to put out spot fires.
