Roelands bushfire: Blaze downgraded to watch and act, possible threat to lives and homes remains
A bushfire near Bunbury has been downgraded to a watch and act level after residents were told to act immediately to survive.
Firefighters are at the scene battling the blaze, with a fresh warning issued at 6.41pm advising a possible threat to lives and homes remains for people in the area to the east of Waterloo Road and Livingstone Heights in parts of Roelands.
“There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and conditions are changing,” the warning stated.
Earlier at 4.57pm, an emergency warning alerted people in the area to leave the area immediately.
“The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as fire behaviour is increasing,” the initial warning read.
“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.”
An evacuation centre at the Leschenault Leisure Centre on Leisure Drive in Australind was closed after the blaze was downgraded.
