Three Busselton ladies putting on Big Blue Table with a difference

Three Busselton-based therapists are joining forces to raise funds for Beyond Blue this October as part of Mental Health Month by hosting an event with a difference. Big Blue Table is an annual fundraiser by Beyond Blue aimed at raising money and awareness for mental health support. Art therapist Jacqui Feutrill, relationship counsellor Heather Kell and equine assisted psychotherapist Lea McDonald know the value of seeking support for mental health as early as possible. Ms Kell said fundraising events like Big Blue Table helped spread the word on what mental health resources were available. “Beyond Blue is an amazing resource that allows people to do just that, as it is right at their fingertips, via the website or by phone 24/7,” she said. “With 45 per cent of people in Australia facing a mental health condition in their lifetime, it is a vital service, and we are so happy that we are able to hold an event like this to raise funds for them.” Ms Feutrill said the need for personalised mental health care in the South West was paramount. “It is also a great opportunity for us to show people they are not alone, and that there are some other great local resources that people can tap into. We understand that (a) one size fits all doesn’t apply to mental health,” she said. Ms McDonald said the event would be a relaxing time to explore what mental health supports were available in the South West. “The Busselton Big Blue Table is going to give people the chance to interact with some of these resources, whether through conversation over a cuppa and cake, patting a pony, tying ribbons in its mane, exploring emotions through art, or by simply taking in the tranquillity of space and nature in a beautiful setting,” she said. The event will feature a raffle and prizes for a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to Beyond Blue. The Busselton Big Blue Table will be held from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, October 5, along Florence Road, Vasse. Tickets and information can be found on the eventbrite website.
