Canberra teen dies in cycling accident at popular Stromlo Forest Park

A 14-year-old boy has died after a serious cycling accident at Canberra’s Stromlo Forest Park on Saturday afternoon.
ACT Policing said the teenager came off his bicycle at about 2.40pm.
Emergency crews treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died.

“The area is being considered as a road-related area as Stromlo Forest Park is open to the public and designated for use by cyclists,” an ACT Policing statement said.
ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to them to contact Crime Stoppers.

Stromlo Forest Park, located 15 minutes from Canberra’s city centre, covers 1200 hectares and is a popular destination for cyclists and mountain bikers, with extensive trails, running tracks, equestrian paths, and a dedicated cycling circuit.
