Rockingham detectives are investigating after a man was struck in the head with a machete during a mass brawl outside a shopping centre in Perth’s south.

A man was hospitalised with wounds to his face, arm and hand yesterday after he was attacked by a group of people in the supermarket carpark in Medina.

The male victim and a woman arrived at the Pace Road supermarket just before 2pm on Monday, where police say an argument between feuding families erupted.

“Outside the supermarket a number of people exited a white Toyota Prado and a silver Holden Commodore and assaulted the man,” a police statement said.

“The man received lacerations to his hand, arm and head and was conveyed by St John Ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.”

CCTV footage shows the male victim roll up the sleeves of his black hoodie and brace for impact as the attackers get out of both cars and run at him.

The first to reach him is punched in the face by the victim, before he is joined by at least two others. The group then rush at the man.

The vision appears to show the man get punched and kicked during the violent onslaught.

Police arrived a short time later and broke up the fight before setting up a crime scene, however, the attacker accused of wielding the machete is believed to have already fled the area.

VideoPolice are hunting a violent attacker who struck a man with axe during a brawl outside a Medina supermarket this afternoon.

Witnesses said the cars involved had been ramming each other in the lead-up to the brawl.
