Couple charged after brutal NYE ‘face-stomping’ assault outside Perth Busport

A man and a woman will front Perth Magistrate’s Court after a violent New Year’s Eve attack outside Perth Busport.

A 27-year-old man from Warakurna Community and a 30-year-old woman from Willagee have both been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm following the assault, while a 15-year-old boy was issued a juvenile caution.

Their alleged victim, a man in his 20s, was left with a fractured jaw, nose and face after allegedly having his face stomped at Wellington Street about 5.30pm last Thursday.

It will be alleged he had been approached by the group and was asked for a cigarette by the man when police say the violence was unleashed.

“A group of people surrounded the victim and he was knocked to the ground where he had his face stomped on,” a police statement said.

“Security staff attended the location and the group dispersed. The victim attended Royal Perth Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.”

The alleged victim has since been released from hospital into the care of his family.

The accused man and woman will face Perth Magistrates Court on February 2.
