Driver of four-wheel drive flees after smashing into walls in South Perth

A neighbourhood was rocked by “terrible screaming followed by a loud bang and screeching tyres” as a four-wheel drive ploughed through two walls before reversing into a fence.
The driver of a Toyota Hilux did a runner following the ordeal, which unfolded on Ridge Street in South Perth near Kensington about 6.20pm on Monday.
A neighbour described how it appeared the white vehicle had “come up the street, smashed into a house down the road, tried to reverse off, hit the wall of the house next door and then lost control when he was trying to reverse and hit the third fence”.
The car came to a standstill and the driver left the scene on foot.
Police have appealed for public assistance in their investigation.
