A 16-year-old bus passenger who was stabbed and left for dead on Anzac Day in Joondalup is recovering in hospital as another teenager has faced court over the incident.

The injured boy was on Sunday said to be in a stable condition recovering at Royal Perth Hospital.

A day earlier he was allegedly dragged off a bus, stabbed and then left unconscious and in a critical state.

Police said it happened after a physical altercation had occurred between the teenager and a group of youths on a Transperth bus travelling along Grand Boulevard.

The boy was allegedly stabbed with a knife and collapsed after he and the group exited the bus.

The victim was rushed to Joondalup Health Campus before being transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police spent Saturday night canvassing the bus, which had one its doors and some windows smashed, as well as the scene including closing down a stretch of Grand Boulevard.

Police charged a 16-year-old from Carramar with intent to cause grievous bodily harm or prevent arrest wounded or caused grievous bodily harm.

He made a brief appearance at Perth Children’s Court on Sunday and was bailed to reappear at a later date.
