Police have made a fresh public appeal after a 39-year-old woman was found dead on a walking track in Margaret River on Monday morning.

The woman’s body was discovered about 7.30am on the track which is adjacent to Bussell Highway.

Police raced to the scene after a call from members of the public.

The section of the track where the woman was found, which connects Rapids Landing and Brookfield with the Margaret River town centre, was swiftly cordoned off as police examined the scene and the woman’s body.

Police said on Monday that a dark four-wheel drive was also located near to where the woman was found.

Detectives are now appealing to the public for information.

“Investigators wish to speak to anyone who was in the area or travelling on Bussell Highway between 7.30pm on Sunday 13 June and 7.30am on Monday 14 June who may have seen the woman or any suspicious activity,” a police statement issued on Tuesday read.

Bunbury and Busselton detectives are investigating the woman’s death with oversight from the homicide squad.
