Updated: A man accused of deliberately torching two cars outside a Madeley home will remain behind bars until at least Monday.

Mutaz Abdelaziz Abdalla, 35, appeared in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court on Thursday charged with three counts of criminal damage by fire and one of possessing unlicensed ammunition.

Police alleged he splashed accelerant on a Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Hilux parked outside home on Haddon Terrace before lighting them on fire at about 3.30am.

Firefighters were called to the scene to extinguished the fire but both vehicles were destroyed. A Nissan Micra that was parked nearby was also damaged.

Mr Abdalla, of Kelmscott, was arrested at the scene. During a brief court appearance he did not make a bail application and was remanded in custody to appear again on Monday.
