Police hope security cameras might have captured the moments before a man was killed in a hit-and-run north of Brisbane.

Detectives are searching for whoever struck the 45-year-old man whose body was found on the side of a Caboolture road on Saturday morning.

They say its possible the driver might not know they'd hit a pedestrian and are reviewing footage from nearby security cameras to see if any vehicle was filmed.

The man, from Caboolture, was on foot near the intersection of Porter and Beerburrum roads, when he was struck. He died at the scene.

Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Green has appealed for anyone who might have dashcam footage of the area between 11pm Friday and 7am Saturday to come forward.
