South Hedland: Man suffers serious injuries after suspected hit and run as major crash officers investigate

Police are on the hunt for a driver as they investigate a suspected hit and run which left a man was serious injuries in the Pilbara. The 51-year-old man was found on the road at the intersection of Demarchi and Haines Roads in South Hedland about 12.45am on Thursday. A police spokeswoman said the man was transferred to Hedland Health Campus after being found “unconscious with serious injuries”. Officers from the major crash investigation section believe the man’s injuries were the result of being struck by a vehicle. It is understood the man was being flown to Perth on Thursday afternoon to seek further medical treatment. His condition remains unknown.
