WA joint counter-terrorism team charge Jayson Joseph Michaels over allegations he was preparing for terror act

A young WA man has been charged over allegations he was preparing for a terrorist act and possessing a prohibited weapon. Jayson Joseph Michaels’ online activities were investigated by WA Police, Australian Federal Police and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation before a search warrant was executed at a Wheatbelt property. The 20-year-old has since been charged with five offences. The man will face Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, on charges of possess prohibited weapon, failed to store a firearm or related thing in compliant storage, unlicensed ammunition and use of a carriage service to menace or harass. He is also facing a charge related to an alleged act in preparation for a terrorist act. The WA joint counter-terrorism team are continuing to investigate the matter. More to come.
