Arson Squad detectives are investigating after an abandoned home near a high school in Perth’s north erupted into flames on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services received a number of triple-zero calls just before 1 pm alerting them to the blaze at a property on Morley Drive East in Morley. Five firefighting crews rushed to the scene across from Hampton Senior High School and worked to contain the blaze. A DFES spokesperson confirmed the blaze was under control by just before 2 pm with crews remaining on the scene to mop up. DFES estimate about 70% of the house has been damaged by the flames. The cause of the fire may be suspicious according to a police spokesperson who said Arson Squad detectives have attended the scene to determine what sparked the blaze. Western Power and St John Ambulance also attended the incident but there have been no reports of injuries.
