Fire destroys single-storey Dawesville home, leaves owners with $600,000 damage bill

A home has been completely destroyed after a fire ripped through the single-storey home south of Mandurah early this morning.

The blaze ignited inside the Dawesville home about 1.30am and caused more than $600,000 in damage.

Three teams of career and volunteer firefighters responded to the McCubbin Loop fire at 12.42am and arrived to find the structure engulfed in flames.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, with no injuries reported.

WA Police also attended the incident, but the fire has since been deemed accidental by Department of Fire and Emergency Services investigators.

While the cause has yet to be confirmed, it is believed a lithium-ion battery that may have overheated or been over-charged could be to blame.
