Pilot suffers ‘burns and broken nose’ after surviving plane crash in Brookton

A pilot will spend the weekend in hospital with a broken nose and burns after surviving a plane crash on Friday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the scene of the light plane crash at a private property on Boyagarra Road, Brookton, about 1.40pm on Friday. Paramedics treated the pilot, a man in his 40s, at the scene. It is understood he suffered injuries including a broken nose and burns as a result of the crash. His injuries are not life-threatening. Police say it is believed the aircraft was crop dusting before it crashed. The RAC Rescue chopper was dispatched to the scene before the pilot was flown to Royal Perth Hospital, arriving just before 4pm. A hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition on Friday night after his lucky escape. Career and volunteer firefighters from Pingelly and Brookton also responded to the incident.
