A teenage boy is in a critical condition in intensive care after the motorbike he and a helmet-less 15-year-old were riding crashed into a four-wheel-drive towing a camper trailer.

Mid West-Gascoyne traffic officers are investigating the serious crash, which took place north of Geraldton just before 2pm yesterday afternoon.

Police said the off-road motorcycle was travelling north on Anderson Street in Webberton when the rider lost control while overtaking a vehicle.

The 16-year-old driver from Brockman then smashed into a Toyota Landcruiser towing a camper trailer that was turning into a driveway.

The rider and pillion passenger both fell from the motorbike and then slid into the side of the camper trailer.

Both were rushed to Geraldton Regional Hospital by St John Ambulance, with the older boy transferred to Royal Perth Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service late last night.

He sustained life-threatening injuries while the pillion passenger — who was not wearing a helmet — was hurt only minimally.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone that saw the crash, or the involved vehicles prior to the crash.

In particular they want to speak with the occupants of a white Holden Commodore station wagon with a black bonnet that was following behind the Landcruiser with the camper trailer just before the crash.

Anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
