Tom Dobson is going places — and he’s taking his own crowd to Melbourne with him.

They’re discerning basketball people, so they’ll know what they’re watching — the Bernard Brown stand at Activewest Stadium is named after Tom’s grandfather, one uncle, Greg, played for the Perth Wildcats, and another, Peter, heads the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association.

Grandparents and parents will all be in the stands to watch him represent the WA Country side in Victoria at the national under-18s championships that start today.

Mum, Chris Dobson, said Tom, 16, was looking forward to the competition.

Harry Evans, who debuted for the Geraldton Buccaneers at age 15 last season, is a reserve.
