Mid West Irish Club to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with food, music and, of course, Guinness

We might be a long way from Ireland, but Geraldton will still be celebrating St Patrick’s Day in style.
The Midwest Irish Club will be hosting an all-day event on Tuesday that highlights the food, drinks and music of Ireland at its Wonthella venue.
Club president Mike Kendrick has organised a day out for the whole family, starting at noon with Irish stew, sandwiches and chicken.
“It’s for all the old people that turn up early,” joked Mr Kendrick.
St Patrick’s Day marks the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but has since evolved into a day of fun and celebration of Irish culture.
There will be live music from Peter Vanderpol and Johnny David, starting at 2pm and finishing at 9pm, with JDs Food Truck arriving for the evening meal.
Mr Kendrick is expecting a great turnout for the event and said “I had to get security”.
“We’ve probably got the best and cheapest Guinness in town,” he said.
Other pubs are getting in on the Irish action, with Tarcoola Tavern and Nabawa Valley Tavern both holding events.
