Tourism WA has opened funding to boost regional tourism across the State, with grants available for a range of events.
Arts, cultural, sporting and food events can all be considered for the regional events scheme funding that encourages visitors to travel to experience the best of what the regions have to offer.
The funding is for small or developing regional events and could be used by Geraldton organisations to fund their projects and draw in tourists.
The annual grant program offers between $5000 and $40,000 out of a total funding pool of $1.4 million.
Eligible events must show their benefits to the local economy and social life and ability to draw in tourists and promote the area through media.
Last year’s funding round delivered 64 events, including seven Aboriginal tourism projects.
In the Mid West-Gascoyne region, events that received funding included Gascoyne Food Festival, Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation NAIDOC event, Turquoise Coast Festival, Adventure Trek Kalbarri, Gascoyne Travelling Arts Festival and Mullewa Muster and Rodeo.
This round of funding closes on July 24.
