Yacht Club win in men’s A-grade, women’s ressies in Geraldton hockey

Yacht Club Development had a big win in women’s A-reserve on Saturday night in the game of the round for Geraldton hockey, while the men’s A-grade side also had a victory.

They beat Cardinals 4-0 in a game that was tight until the last quarter, with only one goal scored, before Yacht Club slotted three.

“It was a great game played by all late on a Saturday night,” the Geraldton Hockey Association’s Emma Bowen said.

“Both teams came out ready to make the late night worthwhile.”

Lisa Clarke scored twice, and Hayley McGlynn and Geneva Johansen had one each.

Casuals beat Rovers 3-2 in men’s A-grade hockey in Geraldton on Friday, thanks to goals from Adam Burrows, Daniel Golding and Brent Allen.

Cameron Hoefhamer and James Van Niftrik scored for Rovers.

Yacht Club beat Murchison on Saturday, 4-2, as Kit Tapper scored three and Fraser Ismail got one.

Ryan Dix was Murchison’s goalscorer.

In the women’s A-grade, Cardinals beat Swans on Friday, 8-0, as Gemma Dix got three and Mikala Van Niftrick, Kira Jones, Erin Harries, Dayna Cooper and Matilda Fitzgerald got one each for the winners. Australs drew with Saints on Saturday, 1-1. Caitlin Mundy scored for Australs and Hannah Melling scored for Saints.

In men’s A-reserve, Casuals beat Yacht Club on Saturday, 5-3.

Angus Grant got two for Casuals while Heiner Schmidt, Sam Owen and Zak Williamson each had one.

Kurt Davey scored two for Yacht Club and Jay O’Sullivan got the third.

Australs beat Rovers on Saturday, 3-1. Brad Kingdon, Kyle Reiner and Shane Guidice-Nairn scored for Australs and Matthew Fosbery replied for Rovers.

In the other women’s A-reserve games, Swans beat Vets on Thursday, 2-0, as Tameka Brooks and Paige Harvey scored.

Australs beat Murchison on Thursday, 4-1, thanks to goals from Bree Hetherington, Erin Kid, Sue Mundy and Tess Beagley. Saints beat Yacht Club on Saturday, 3-0.
