Tennis lovers take to the courts at Kendenup Tennis Club for Mixed Doubles Twilight Tournament

Keen players hit the courts for the Mixed Doubles Twilight Tournament hosted by Kendenup Tennis Club on February 7.
Twenty pairs took part in the competition and were divided into A, B and C grades.
The tournament began at 1pm and continued throughout the afternoon and evening, finishing up under the lights by 9pm.
Joel Gray and Michelle Watson claimed victory in the A-grade, with Travis and Clare King coming in as runners-up.

In the B-grade, Jackie and Barry Atkinson were named champions against runners-up Chris Wise and Laura Carter.
The C-grade champions were Lewis Miller and Sandy Graham, and the runners-up were Andrew Slade and Ella North.
Organiser of the event Shannon Slade said the tournament was very inclusive, which resulted in a good turn-out.
“It was a good day. We had great weather and a really great turnout,” she said.
“It’s really important, as tennis is the one club that caters for men, women and juniors, and because we ran this tournament as a twilight tournament, we could showcase our new lights and run it differently than we have in the past.”
Ms Slade said the tournament was a fundraiser for the club and was a good way to bring the community together.
“As a sporting club, it’s one of the major fundraisers,” she said.

“A few spectators and club members helped out on the day, and family members supporting.
“It was nice everyone could play under the lights and share an evening meal.”
