Australind police are continuing to target and disrupt the supply of illegal drugs in the community by conducting two to three search warrants each week.

Sen. Sgt Mark Smith said a sophisticated hydroponic system was discovered during a raid in Millbridge last month.

Police found 22 cannabis plants in two rooms which took a “significant amount of time” to dismantle. A man in his 30s has been charged.

The Australind team also carried out two simultaneous searches at homes in Kingston and Roelands.

Three kilograms of cannabis, cannabis oil and cannabis resin was seized from the Kingston address and a 41-year-old woman was charged.

Sgt Smith said other searches had also resulted in seizures of MDMA, heroin and LSD. “Police have been assisted with information from the community,” he said.

“Whilst recent seizures in the local area and Perth have impacted on the availability of drugs, we are maintaining our enforcement efforts.

“We ask that information be reported to Crimestoppers or by calling the local station directly,” he said.

Sgt Smith said road policing had returned to normal with the removal of the COVID-19 regional borders.

“There have been a number of motorists charged recently with drink/drug driving offences and it is timely to remind all road users to make the right choices. “There are no excuses for driving impaired and the consequences can be catastrophic.”
