Staff at Harvey Senior High School have been sweating for a good cause this month and are participating in a push-up challenge to create awareness for mental health.

The initiative, which was started by Headspace, encourages people to do 3046 push-ups over 21 days.

Harvey Senior High school principal Di Clayton said she was proud to be participating in the program with other staff and teachers at the school.

“It is always great to raise awareness for mental health,” Mrs Clayton said.

“Especially during hard times like these where people are dealing with lifestyle changes and being in isolation.”

Mrs Clayton said a friendly rivalry had even ignited among the staff as the teams challenged each other to “push for better”.

She said she wanted to thank the senior school engagement program officer Mel Hernaman for organising the program.

Ms Hernaman said it was important to talk about mental health and break the stigma.

“It is important for everyone, including our young students, to feel like they can openly talk about mental health without the fear of being judged,” she said.
