Landmarks light up for Christmas

South Western Times

Graham Emerson and his daughter Kate are spreading Christmas cheer to help raise money to save lives.

More than 30,000 lights have been used to light up Mr Emerson’s South Bunbury home in a bid to raise money to help develop an early detection test for ovarian cancer.

In 2001 the family invested in basic lighting but nine years later Waratah Crescent is home to The Eiffel Tower, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Leaning Tower of Pisa thanks to the dedicated Christmas lights enthusiasts.

On Christmas Eve, after 5pm, a sausage sizzle in the street will raise money for an early detection test for ovarian cancer.

‘‘It’s quite a festive event — a real old-fashioned Christmas party,’’Mr Emerson said.
