Police have launched a major investigation after a man’s body was discovered in far west NSW.

Emergency services were called to a house on Burke Street, Broken Hill, about 12.50pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of concerns for a man’s welfare.

When officers arrived they discovered the man had sustained a wound to his neck.

He has not been formally identified but authorities believe he is 47-year-old man.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation has been launched into the man’s death with the assistance of the Homicide Squad.

No arrests have been made in relation to the death.

A NSW Police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing.
