A WA woman is dreaming of her own home — and finally getting a dog — after landing a life-changing Set for Life windfall.
The lucky punter will pocket $20,000 a month for the next 20 years after her division one ticket, bought at Margaret River Newsagency, scored her a total prize of $4.8 million.
Incredibly, she had no idea.
The winner said that she went to bed on draw night completely unaware, only realising the following evening when she saw a local ticket had hit the jackpot.
“It wasn’t until the next night in bed that I remembered I even had a ticket,” she said.
Now her plans are simple — cut back to part-time work, spend more time at home gardening and crafting, and tick off dream holidays including Tasmania and safari parks.
But it’s the little things that matter most.
“I’m saving for a home and I can’t wait to own a dog,” she said.
“Finding a rental that allows pets is really challenging, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
Lotterywest spokeswoman Zoe Wender said that the prize offered rare freedom and security.
“Twenty thousand dollars every month for 20 years is an opportunity to slow down and focus on what you really want in life,” she said.
The win marks WA’s second Set for Life winner in 2026, with the game also delivering 20 division two prizes across the State.
Set for Life is drawn daily, with tickets available in-store, online or via the Lotterywest app.
