Criminal Jeremy Miller on run in WA after allegedly cutting off electronic monitoring device

Police are still hunting one of eight criminals who allegedly removed their ankle monitoring devices over the weekend.

Jeremy Miller, 40, remains on the run three days after he allegedly removed his device on Friday — he was one of eight offenders who is alleged to have illegally cut off their devices in a 24 hour period over the weekend.

Five of the men were immediately located, however three men — Jezziah Smith, Russell Dabb and Jeremy Miller — could not be found, prompting WA Police to issue a statement on Sunday.

“Over the past 48 hours, there have been eight alleged electronic monitoring device breaches across Western Australia,” the statement said.

“Each breach requires an immediate operational response and places additional pressure on police resources, with officers redirected from other policing activities to locate offenders and assess any associated community safety risks.

“The cumulative impact of multiple breaches in a short period can be significant, requiring considerable time and resources to investigate and resolve.”

Police located 18-year-old Smith on Sunday afternoon, while Dabb, 18, was found on Monday.

Miller is still at large and it is not known what crime he has been accused of.

WA Police union representative Simone Taplin said one of the missing people is a “family domestic violence offender” while others posed a “high risk to the community”.

“You’re not on a monitoring bracelet because you’ve just committed a small crime that’s petty . . .it’s because you’re a hardened criminal, and what you’ve done is bad,” she said.
