Two people are in hospital after a serious crash on the Kwinana Freeway near Jandakot early Wednesday morning.

It is understood a car and a truck collided about 2am, as the vehicles were travelling south.

Emergency services rushed out to the scene, with firefighters having to free two trapped people.

A 20 year old man and a 17-year-old girl were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The freeway was closed southbound between Beeliar and Berrigan Drive as the crash was cleared but reopened just before 6am.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
