Kwinana: Bizarre early-morning stand-off after man on BP roof holds up emergency services for five hours

Emergency services spent almost five hours locked in a tense stand-off with a man on the roof of a busy Perth petrol station before specialist tactical police were called in.
The man, in his 30s, climbed on top of the BP near Gilmore Avenue in Kwinana just before 3am on Wednesday, causing a major response from St John Ambulance, DFES and WA Police.
Baffled commuters took to social media to share footage of the man, who was walking across the roof wearing a light grey tracksuit while officers surrounded the perimeter below.
Police resources, including negotiators and the Tactical Response Group, responded to the incident to safely bring the man down.

Sign upA WA Police spokesman said the man was brought down shortly before 8am and is assisting police with inquiries, but the motivations behind the incident have not been disclosed.
DFES deployed four firefighting crews from Hope Valley and Kwinana to assist with the response.
