A leading Bunbury support service agency has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the South West’s biggest First Nations organisation during NAIDOC week.
This week, Accordwest formalised a partnership with Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation focused on strengthening culturally informed, community-led outcomes across the South West.
Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation represents the Wardandi Noongar people, the traditional custodians of the Bunbury region, who have maintained a strong and enduring connection to the region for thousands of years.
The region has long been recognised as an important place for gathering, community and the sharing of knowledge across generations, guided by elders past and present.
According to Accordwest, the partnership reflects the group’s Aboriginal Cultural Recognition, Respect and Empowerment approach, grounded in listening, learning and building genuine relationships with Aboriginal communities.
Through this agreement, Accordwest and Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation will work together to support initiatives responding to community priorities and strengthen long-term social and wellbeing outcomes across the region.
Accordwest CEO Danelle Milward said the partnership reflected the organisation’s continued focus on collaborative, culturally responsive approaches.
“This partnership reflects the trust being placed in Accordwest to work alongside community in a way that is respectful, responsive and grounded in culture,” she said.
“By building a meaningful relationship with Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation, we have an opportunity to listen, learn and support outcomes shaped by community, creating a strong foundation for sustainable, long-term impact.”
