Popular South West beach under the watchful eye of Surf Life Saving WA beach lifeguards

A popular South West beach will be under the watchful eye of Surf Life Saving WA beach lifeguards over summer as an ongoing partnership continues.
Lifeguards will return Margaret River mouth beach this season, the sixth time the beach has been under their care since the shire took on the service in 2019.
Contracted by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, lifeguards will patrol the sand every day between 10am to 5pm, from December 18 to April 25.
Shire president Julia Jean-Rice said the shire was delighted to once again partner with SLSWA to deliver the vital community service. “It’s fantastic to have the Surf Life Saving WA team back on board for another summer,” she said. “As the warmer weather draws locals and visitors back to the coast, our seasonal lifeguards play a crucial role in helping everyone enjoy the beach safely. “We’re reminding beach-goers to follow the advice of our lifeguards — swim between the red and yellow flags, surf outside of the flagged area, and never enter the ocean after drinking alcohol. “The beach is a beautiful place to enjoy, but the ocean can be unpredictable. Our goal is to help manage those risks and ensure every visit is a safe one.”
