Remarkable video footage of a great white shark circling a boat off the Perth coast has emerged online.

Daniel Palermo captured the footage while out fishing with his family on Friday morning.

Mr Palermo was fishing in Parmelia Bank, east of Carnac Island at about 8am when the shark emerged.

“Holy s**t that’s a great white,” Mr Palermo can be heard saying in the video.

“He’s just circling us...look at the size of it.”

Mr Palermo told The West Australian the shark was easily about 4m in length and was about the same size as his boat.

“Me and the kids were out there and it circled (the boat) for about 10 minutes,” he said.

“It hung around at the back of the boat and then just left.”

Mr Palermo said he had seen several bronze whaler sharks in the area before but never a great white.

The sighting has been reported to authorities.
