Rockingham Flames have lost their second match of the season, 88-86 to undefeated Geraldton Buccaneers in the men’s NBL1 West match on Saturday night at Activewest Stadium.

The thrilling Round 6 clash saw the Buccaneers take their home ground floor against Rockingham Flames, who were without Tom Jervis.

The Buccs were out for another win starting with a strong 26-21 lead by the first quarter before putting up another 21 points to 16 in the second, with a 47-37 lead by half-time.

Rockingham hit back to lead 74-73 point in the third quarter, Devondrick Walker putting up 37 points, six rebounds and three steals while hitting 7/15 from beyond the arc.

However the Buccs hit back to lead by three points, with star Cameron Coleman scoring 22 points and three assists and Johny Narkle nailing the winning shot to edge the Flames out 88-86.

Rockingham Flames saw an outstanding performance from Marshall Nelson (17 points, nine rebounds and six assists), Ryan Godfrey (10 points and three assists), Travis Durnin eight points and seven rebounds, and Greg Hire seven points, 14 boards and seven assists.

Buccs remain undefeated with a perfect 7-0 record while the Flames drop to fourth.

The Flames take on the Cockburn Cougars in Round 7 at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on May 21.
