A big crowd gathered at Ferndale Park at Dalyellup on Sunday, with the Dalyellup Rhinos hosting its highly anticipated rugby league gala day.

Organised by both the club and NRLWA, the event provided a special showcase of junior and senior recreational rugby league in a family-oriented setting.

In the seniors, the Dalyellup Rhinos took on the Albany Sea Dragons, another emerging regional catchment area, along with the Mandurah Storm.

Both the Sea Dragons and Rhinos were able to gain plenty from their clashes against the Storm, who have made the big jump into the NRLWA Val Murphy Trophy third grade competition this season.

NRLWA operations manager Tony Crowe believes the concept will help league in the region.
